Hear It From Me

Hello Peeps! Welcome to Just Ask Owlie. My name is Allison Nechelle and welcome to the official blog of AskOwlie. At Just Ask Owlie we will provide posts on self-help topics from a life coaching perspective. From self-esteem to goal setting, Just Ask Owlie will have it all.

I will make weekly posts on subjects that people maybe struggle with and need an extra shoulder to lean on. I will help provide ways to solve basic life problems and provide ways to deal with life issues. I am not a therapist and will not be able to provide therapy or counseling services. With that stated, I’m able to provide ways or resources to help you find therapy or counseling services.

We all would like an extra ear to listen to our worries, problems, fears, joys, and excitements. Even if you just need someone to listen to you with no feedback, I am your girl.

FYI: Fun facts about Allison Nechelle, She loves Mickey Mouse, enjoys a good book, ice cream is her favorite food, and she is a huge Kpop fan (mainly BTS).

About Me

My name is Allison Nechelle and I am very happy to share with you my skills in helping people help themselves.

I am currently a correctional behavioral specialist who is working in the prison system teaching male mental health inmates rational thinking skills. At my current job, I provide psycho-educational classes, rehabilitative programs, and re-entry planning in a therapeutic unit.  My degrees are, B.S. in Psychology and a Master Degree in School Counseling. I hold an NCC certification (National Certified Counselor) from NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors) and have a Correctional Behavioral Health Certification-Behavioral specialty from the ACA (American Correctional Association).

Before becoming a correctional behavioral specialist, I worked as a community support specialist with a population who seek mental health services from medication management to learning basic daily living skills. My clients were either living on their own, in a group home or homeless. I worked with each client on their own intervention plan to where it provided goals the client themselves would like to work on in the upcoming year. The plan was very detail from dates, time, and people who contribute help to each goal. I also provide transportation to and from their appointments (doctor, therapy, SSI, etc..) since most of the client did not have access to transportation or little funds to put gas in their cars. I helped clients apply for SSI or disability, Medicaid, and even fill our government assistant forms. Most of my clients on the caseload I had were younger clients (20-26) who just recently been diagnose with a mental illness. I worked with Social Services due to some of my clients having a child or children and need assistance in caring for their child or children.

My other experience is working with children through my School Counseling Master program internship and practicum. I worked at two different elementary schools during one full school year and was given the exacted same duties as a licensed school counselor. I developed my own school counseling curriculum, ran lunchtime groups, taught guidance lessons weekly and help students one on one. I worked with children who had been diagnosed with behavioral disorders and worked with children who were from low-income families. I ran friendship groups and children of divorce groups.

I've been very fortunate in helping people change their lives as a behavioral specialist and life coach. I'm excited about sharing my experiences through Just Ask Owlie. I believe there are so many people that can be helped by providing resources on a global scale. Helping others is my life’s work, I am very fortunate and humbled to work in this field.
